Hi, I’m Ashley! I’m a driven, analytical risk professional with roots in the Dominican Republic—y sí, hablo español! I was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and currently live in Detroit, Michigan. I earned my MBA from Michigan State University’s Broad College of Business—GO GREEN! For undergrad I attended Georgia State University and got my B.B.A. in Risk Management and Insurance, concentrating in Quantitative Risk Analysis. GO PATHERS! I currently serve as a Risk Analyst at General Motors, where I analyze complex exposure data and manage the end-to-end placement of our global liability programs. My favorite part of working at GM is being at the forefront of innovation in electric and autonomous vehicles. I can’t wait to tell my great-grandchildren about these “good ol' days” when they take me to bingo in their highly efficient, self-driving vehicles—in a world with zero traffic, zero emissions, and zero crashes! My professional background also includes extensive experience in employee health and benefits. I’ve served as a Benefits Advisor at Marsh McLennan Agency and as a Licensed Agent at Aon/Alight Solutions. Additionally, I developed project-management experience by organizing voter-registration initiatives in Atlanta. During college, I worked as a sales lead at Havertys, where I learned just as much about communication and people as I did about fabric and design. I’m passionate about leadership, community, and giving back to the risk profession. I currently serve as Chair of the Rising Risk Professionals and DEI Committees for the Detroit RIMS Chapter. I also serve as Secretary and Social Media Chair for the Michigan Chapter of the National African American Insurance Association. In these roles, I’ve created a mentorship program, facilitated industry connections, and helped elevate these organizations to earn national recognition. Management professional with extensive experience of increasing responsibility in risk management, insurance and related functions. Significant experience with alternative risk financing vehicles including four (4) captive insurance companies and large deductible casualty programs. Captive experience includes two (2) domestically domiciled credit life insurance companies, one (1) Bermuda based group captive providing professional lines coverage primarily to money center banks, serving on the executive committee for five (5) years and as chairman for one (1) year, and one single parent captive that consistently produces over $10 million in annual net income for its parent while reducing the cost of risk previously paid to third party insurers.
